Wellsgreen Golf Range and Restaurant
Windygates, Leven, Fife
First of all, I would like to welcome you all to our home on the web!! My name is Stewart Whiteford and I am now the 4th generation Whiteford to be at the helm of Wellsgreen.
My Great Grandfather Daniel travelled from far afield lands (Glasgow), to take the tenancy at Wellsgreen in 1928 setting up a dairy farming operation. When he retired, he passed the farm onto my grandad James who farmed until her retired in the mid 1970s when my dad Bill (Wully) took over.
Dad, quickly sacked the dairy (and the 3am morning starts) in favour of vegetables, grain and fruit. He and my mum Jane, set up one of the areas largest strawberry operations, serving supermarkets country wide as well as running a very popular pick-your-own business. In 1995 they decided to build a golf range on one of the fields previously used for strawberries which of course has grown to be the facility it is today.
My parents had 2 boys (Peter and myself), who from an early age became keen golfers. Peter ended up turning pro and travelling the world playing golf on the European Tour. I also turned pro…. But sadly the furthest I travelled was to the cash & carry to pick up sweets and juice for the shop!! I started my PGA training at Aberdour Golf Club before moving to The Blairgowrie Golf Club to work under Charles Dernie. I worked at Blairgowrie for 7 years before heading home to Wellsgreen in 2006.
Our family is hugely proud of what we have achieved here at Wellsgreen and we really hope you like it too!!
We are fully open from 9.30am (9.00am on a Saturday) until 10pm every day.
